Obituary of Mattie Armstrong

Mattie 56, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, February 8, 2011 at Vista Medical Center East in Waukegan after fighting a long time of illness. Mattie was born August 3, 1954 in Boligee, AL. Mattie confessed her faith at an early age. She moved to Zion, IL in August 1974 and resided here until her passing. Mattie leaves to cherish her memory her loving daughter, Towanda and one grandson, Tavain of Zion; she also leaves to cherish her memory her dear mother, Inez (Preston Sr.) Wiggins; her father, Hosey (Priscilla) Davis Sr. of Detroit, MI; seven sisters, Gladys (Jodie) Moore, Lovetta Slaughter, Grace (Victor) Overton of Zion, Ruby (Richard) Walton of Kenosha, WI, Joe Ann (Watson) Chillus of Toledo, OH, Renee Davis, and Deborah Thuman of Detroit, MI; two brothers, Preston Wiggins, Jr., of Zion, IL and Hosey (Lora) Davis, Jr. of Detroit, MI, two very dear friends, Minnie and Jackie, and a host of nieces and nephews. Mattie was preceded in death by her husband, Earnest Armstrong; a sister, Hester Henderson; and her maternal grandmother, Lula Henderson. A visitation will be held on Saturday, February 12, 2011, from 2:00 until 5:00 p.m. at the CONGDON FUNERAL HOME, 3012 Sheridan Road, Zion, IL.
