Obituary of Muriel Marko

Muriel Ruth Marko, born September 10, 1922, in Dallas, Texas, (moving to Waukegan, IL in 1946 and then to Zion, IL in 1984) passed away on Thursday, February 10, 2011, at Terrace Nursing Home, Waukegan, IL. She was a faithful member of the Waukegan church of Christ for over 65 years. She attended faithfully every service she could, even while she was confined to a wheelchair and in the nursing home. She was a loving and caring mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend. She was a member of the Zion Park District Seniors for 20 years. She enjoyed all of the outings and especially the many out of town trips they all took. She had a gentle nature and loved all animals but most especially her cats. The springtime was her favorite time of year, and she enjoyed growing flowers and plants. She also, enjoyed reading and watching game shows on TV. She is survived by her children, Helen (Robert) Taylor of Zion, IL, Wanda McGillivray and Ernestine Brashear, both of Gurnee, IL; 5 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren; special friend, Ruth Collins; her church family, (Waukegan Church of Christ); and many other friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Marko; parents, Ross Meggs and Ruth Jensen; son-in-law, William Brashear; grandchildren, David Taylor and Wendy Larson; and great grandson, infant Luke Woodside. A Funeral Service will held on Sunday, February 13, 2011, at 3:00 p.m. at Congdon Funeral Home, 3012 Sheridan Rd., Zion, IL, with Brother Calvin Mathis, officating. Visitation will precede the funeral from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service at the funeral home. Burial will be private. The family expresses thanks to Seasons Hospice for their kind care.
