Obituary of Arnold Hallgren

Arnold S. "Arnie" Hallgren, 83, of Beach Park, IL, died on Tuesday, February 1, 2011 at Condell Medical Center, Libertyville. Arnie was born March 11, 1927 in Rockford, IL and has lived in this area most of his life. He retired in 1989 as a millwright at Johnson Motors after working there 39 years. He was also a past member of Swedish Glee Club and the Chain-O'Lakes Model A Club. Arnie was also a Veteran of WWII having served with the 2nd Airborne division, Army Paratroopers. Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Helen; three children, Stephen Hallgren of Beach Park, IL, Leonard Hallgren of Bradenton, FL, and Jeanne (Greg) Gordon of Wadsworth, IL; three grandchildren, Tanya Hallgren, Jennifer (Michael) Hundertmark, and Kelly (Chris) King; three great-grandchildren, Ariel, Jasmine, and Donovan Hundertmark; and one sister-in-law, Mary Hallgren of Libertyville, IL. He was preceded in death by siblings, Axel Hallgren, Gilbert Hallgren, Mildred Hallgren, Myrtle Lind, Lenart Hallgren, and Albert Hallgren. Visitation will be Friday, February 4, 2011, from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the CONGDON FUNERAL HOME, 3012 Sheridan Road, Zion. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 5th, at 10:00 a.m. at the Congdon Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Ascension Cemetery, Libertyville. Memorial donations to a charity of your choice would be appreciated.
