Obituary of Karin Harper

Karin L. Harper, 60, of Winthrop Harbor, Illinois died on Wednesday, January 26, 2011 at home. Karin was born March 8, 1950 in Chicago, Illinois and moved to Zion in 1966. She was employed by the Winthrop Harbor Post Office for 40 years. She was also a member of the Winthrop Harbor Lions Club, Winthrop Harbor V.F.W. Auxiliary, and Zion-Benton Moose Lodge #667. Karin enjoyed flowers and gardening, bowling, and working Bingo with the Lions Club. Survivors include her husband, Clyde; two children, Kristy Jones of Beach Park, Andrew O'Bryant of Winthrop Harbor; three step-daughters; one step-son; four grandchildren, MaKayla Jones, Kevin Jones Jr., Rosalee O'Bryant, and Brianna Neubauer; two step-grandchildren; eight step-great-grandchildren; and siblings, Wayne (Karen) Podborny of Long Lake, Illinois, Dennis Podborny of Zion, and Alvin Podborny of Yuma, Arizona. She was preceded in death by one sister, Lynnette Wong; and her parents, Eugene and Agnes Podborny. Visitation will be Thursday, February 3, 2011, from 2:00 until 5:30 p.m. at the CONGDON FUNERAL HOME, 3012 Sheridan Road, Zion, Illinois, where a funeral service will follow at 5:30 p.m., Dr. Michael Brown officiating.
