Obituary of Helen Sparks

Helen LaVerne (nee Myers), 98, went to be with the Lord on Monday, January 24, 2011, after a short illness at Vista Medical Center East in Waukegan. She has been a resident of Rolling Hills Manor in Zion, IL, the past ten years. Helen was born, March 31, 1912, in Thunderhawk, SD, the daughter of Dan and Lillian Myers. She graduated from the Sidney High School in Montana. In 1936, she married Frank Lewis Sparks, She was a homemaker who raised three sons and was active in the local Assembly of God Church. She enjoyed baking, crocheting, and writing poetry. After her husband died, she moved to Zion, IL, to be near two of her sons. Surviving her are three sons, Loren (Sandra) Sparks of Racine, WI, Lloyd (Rose) Sparks of Benkulu, Indonesia, and Wayne (Sherolyn) Sparks of Winthrop Harbor, IL; four grandchildren, Randy (Monica) Sparks, Risa (Jerry) Baldy, Lynne Sparks, and Laura (Joe) Fonk; three great-grandchildren, Andrew, Jeremy, and Matthew Sparks; and her older brother, Bernard Myers of Billings, MT. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank; and four sisters, Reatha Larsen, Esther Melton Dalos, Velma Myers, and Leah Myers. A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, January 28, 2011, at 11:30 a.m. at Congdon Funeral Home, 3012 Sheridan Rd., Zion. Friends may greet the family on Friday from 10:30 a.m until the time of service at the funeral home. She will be buried next to her beloved husband in Sidney, MT
