Carter and his parents were a grand presence on our block in Buckley Hills. As his parents are missed by us, he will be too. Much love to those he left behind.

Carter you were a great guy and I miss our extended conversations long ago. I remember the painted sticks you used to make when I first met you. I hope you are able to paint again upstairs. In the relative scheme of things, see you soon enough.

Carter and I dated when I was in high school, and since he was a few years older, he knew of more places to go and things to do than I did. I enjoyed the corner restaurant hangout with the other "surfer boys", and marvelled that you could surf in Lake Michigan. About a year ago I returned to Waukegan for a visit and went to see Carter. I of course was dismayed at his illness, but encouraged at his determination to do as much as he could anyway. I pray that God is now taking care of my good friend. Say hi to Ronnie for me, Carter....

Carter was a friend of mine from the beach. We learned to surf and skateboard together back in the 60's. Being a bit older than me, I looked up to Carter as sort of a role-model of "coolness". He was there when I met my first love and later, my wife of almost 40 years. Carter loved music, the Lake in all it's moods, and the company of friends. His apartments and house were safe places to drop by and unload the stresses of the times we lived in. I always took his advice seriously because he always seemed to sincerely listen and care for his friends. Once he told me; "You should marry that girl". I did....and 40 years of marriage and two grown daughters were the result. Thank you Carter for intersecting my life and I trust the wind is in your sails and the surf is under your feet as you complete your journey. Steve Ceskowski Dunes Beach Surf Club

Carter, who we have known for the last 50+years, was a bright and cool guy whose humor, knowledge and practical abilities were enjoyed by all who knew him. He faced his illness with a stout heart, good humor and a good measure of bravery. We will miss him. Skip, Susan, Sarah and the staff at Dr. Neiburgers.
