Obituary of Ruth Hartke

Ruth Hartke, 94, formerly of Beach Park, Illinois passed away Monday, December 13, 2010 at The Lutheran Home in Arlington Heights, Illinois. She was bom May 29, 1916 In Buckley, Illinois. Ruth married Jesse Hartke on May 7, 1938 and they enjoyed 60 wonderful years together. They raised their six children in Waukegan. Ruth was a homemaker and later worked at Victory Memorial Hospital as a nurse's aide. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Jesse and her son-in-law Roger Powers. Ruth was the loving mother of four sons, Ronald (Linda), Kenneth (Cheryl), David (Judith) and Richard (Mary Ann) and two daughters Carol (Dennis Helm) and JoAnn Powers. She was the cherished grandmother of 11, John (Lisa), James (Nora), Jeffrey (Katie), Michael (Natalie), Jeffrey (Nicole), Katheryn (Mike), Kevin, Tim, Christopher (DJ), Robert and Megan and 13 great-grandchildren, Matthew, Alexandra, Daxton, Christopher, Michael, Jeffrey, Krystal, TJ, Alyssa, Cody, Lily, Ryan and Tiffanie. Next to her love of her family, Ruth's greatest enthusiasm was in completing counted cross stitch projects, jigsaw puzzles and she was an avid reader. She was also an active member of Redeemer Lutheran Church of Waukegan, Illinois and was a long time participant in the weekly Bible study group. Visitation for Ruth will be Friday evening December 17, 2010 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 620 Grove Avenue, Waukegan (847) 336-4891. Funeral Services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, December 18, 2010 at Congdon Funeral Home, 3012 Sheridan Road, Zion, Illinois, with Pastor Wayne Jahn officiating. Visitation will also be 1 hour prior to service, 9:00 -10:00 a.m. Internment will be at Northshore Garden of Memories, North Chicago, Illinois. In lieu of flowers, memorials would be greatly appreciated to The Lutheran Hour, St. Louis, Missouri or to Redeemer Lutheran Church, Waukegan, Illinois.
