Obituary of Clyde Slay
Clyde Slay, 84, a resident of Beach Park, IL, since 1959, passed away on Tuesday, October 5, 2010, at Aurora Medical Center, Kenosha. Wisconsin.
Clyde was born September 3, 1926, in Itawamba County, MS, and married Vetris Wallace on September 23, 1945. He retired from Johns-Manville in Waukegan, IL, after about 35 years of employment. At Johns-Manville he was a member of the Quarter Century Club. Clyde was also a lifetime member of the NRA. He was an avid deer hunter and loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
Survivors include his children, Robert "Bob" (Theresa "Terri") Slay and Sandra (Kirk) Katalinick, both of Beach Park, IL; grandchildren, Christopher Slay and Michelle (Jose) Torres, also both of Beach Park, IL; great-grandchildren, Christina, Elizabeth and Robert; and numerous nieces and nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Vetris in 1996; and 12 siblings.
Visitation will be Friday, October 8, 2010 from 6:00-9:00 p.m. at Congdon Funeral Home, 3012 Sheridan Rd., Zion, IL. Services will be held on Monday morning at 11:00 a.m. at the Mt. Gilead Church, Itawamba County, Mississippi, with burial at the Mt. Gilead Cemetery. The McNeece-Morris Funeral Home, Fulton Mississippi is also serving the family. The family expresses deep appreciation to Doctor A.J. Cappelli and Aurora Medical Center for Clyde's care.
