We met Mr. & Mrs. Horning in 1968 when we rented from them. We remember many times setting in the kitchen of their home, drinking coffee, eating cake and having many wonderful conversations. They made us feel as if we had known them all our lives. We lost contact over the years, but they both were forever in our hearts. We extend our heartfelt sympathy to all the family and friends. We know she will be truly missed by all who have had the joy of knowing her.

Clara was an angel on Earth and has left us with many wonderful memories. For me, personally, she was like a second mom. She guided, inspired and stretched out her arms for me, pulling me through some trying times. Clara was always there for me and for her friends. She loved to cook for people and have friends over for coffee and cake. A more considerate person there cannot be. She had a very sharp mind and keen sense of humor. Clara was a huge Cub fan, rarely missing a day game on television. It's too bad her nephew, Jimmy King, could not have finished his MLB career with her beloved Cubbies. We loved Clara, and though she will be sorely missed, I'll cherish that I was blessed by God to have been involved in her beautiful life for 12 years. Thank you Clara - love you always. ~ Jay Smith, Zion, Illinois
