Obituary of Joyce Ashmore

Joyce A. Ashmore, 80, of Beach Park, went to be with her Lord Jesus Christ on Wednesday, September 29, 2010, at Vista Medical Center East in Waukegan. Joyce was born December 5, 1929, in Zion, and lived in this area most of her life, except for ten years living in Florida from 1997 to 2007. She married Edward H. Ashmore on July 16, 1960, at the Zion Revival Center. Joyce was a devoted Christian and a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Survivors include her husband of 50 years, Edward; sons, Mark (Toinette) Ashmore and David (Angie) Ashmore, both of Winthrop Harbor, IL; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; sisters, Betty Jacobsen of Omaha, Nebraska, and Gloria (Curtis) Reese of Montana; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Arthur and Florence Grieve; and granddaughter, Erin Ashmore. A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, October 5, 2010, at 7:30 p.m. at Congdon Funeral Home, 3012 Sheridan Rd., Zion. Friends may greet the family on Tuesday from 5:30 p.m until the time of service at the funeral home.
