Obituary of James Cowart

James D. Cowart "Jim" Age 77, of Friendship, Wisconsin, formerly of Zion, Illinois, died September 15, 2010 at his home in Friendship, Wisconsin. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, September 19, 2010 at Congdon Funeral Home, 3012 Sheridan Rd., in Zion, Illinois at 7:00p.m. Interment will be at Mount Olivet Cemetery in Zion, Illinois. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Sunday from 4:00p.m. until the time of the service. Jim was born March 14, 1933 in Mississippi to Marvin and Lorene (Leech) Cowart. Jim married Beatrice Smith on April 4, 1953 in Zion, Illinois. Jim was a former union president of the I.M.M.A. for Johnson/Evinrude Outboards OMC. He was a member of Waukegan Bowman Club, involved in the Zion Park District Little League program, and owner of Northshore Restaurant. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family. The family would like to thank Bonnie, Barb, and Deb of Hospice Touch for all their kindness. Memorials may be directed to Hospice Touch, 321 Butts Avenue, Tomah, Wisconsin 54660. Jim was preceded in death by his wife, Betty; his parents; two sisters and three brothers. Survivors include children, Janet (John) Jump of Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin, Jennifer (George) Kuersten of Woodstock, Illinois, James (Michelle) Cowart of Belvidere, Illinois, Jeff (Lilly) Cowart of Bollingbrook, Illinois, and Jodi Mericle of Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin; siblings, Doug of Friendship, Wisconsin, Barb (Eldor) Joerns of Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin, Margaret (George) McGilvery of Kenosha, Wisconsin and Ocene Lindeloff of Mississippi; 17 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
