Bernie was a dear and outstanding friend as we worked in concert with our mutual friend, Bob Petrach, to promote the projects of the Zion-Benton Jaycees which engaged the industries, businesses and the citizens of the local community.

So sorry to hear of Bernie's passing but rejoice in his homegoing to the Lord. I always enjoyed seeing the two of you around town and Bernie's smile and friendliness. The world has lost a wonderful person in Bernie. My thoughts and prayers are with you. Marti Korpi

Charlotte, We extend our heart-felt condolence to you and your family at this time. We are sorry that we were not able to attend the funeral because we were in Michigan. Ken would have loved to participate in honoring Bernie, a WWII veteran, by being part of the Zion-Benton American Legion Post 865 Honor Guard. You and Bernie have been a main stay of the AL Post 865 and ALA Unit 865. Thank you for your witness for Christ.

It was wonderful to have his support at the CCC softball games. I loved to hear him say "Everybody hits, Everybody hits". He will not only be remembered as the softball game encourager, but I am sure he will be remembered for so much more, father, husband, grandfather, serviceman, volunteer just to name a few of the titles that envelope the various attributes of him, the man whom God Blessed abundantly. My condolences to family members and church family. I will be praying for you all. God Bless.

I just wanted to leave a few words in respect of your passing. I went to school with Quinton & Lara, we knew each other, but never really spent time together. After years, and the maturity that seems to come with age, I was reunited with both of them. They are both Good, honest, morally upright people, and I only regret not being in their life sooner. I was never privileged with the honor of meeting Bernie, but really wish I had. His resume is that of a true American, and few left that could compare to, at this time. If your children are one percent of what you were as a person, I know you will be missed more than you would know. So with the deepest sympathy I can muster,my heart Goes to your family today, And I will pray for their comfort, in this time of sorrow. Peace be on you Bernie Ackerman, and may God comfort you in your rest, in his heavenly abode.
