Obituary of Margaret Christian

Margaret Christian, 84, of Winthrop Harbor, IL, passed away on Wednesday, July 28, 2010, at her home, surrounded by her family. Margaret was born, June 16, 1926, in Velka, Revuca, Czechoslovakia, to Victor and Rozalia (nee Peleck) Sturman and married Robert Christian on December 20, 1947. She was a member of the Church of Christ in Zion. Margaret's employment past included working for the Zion Cookie Factory and then retiring from Abbott Laboratories after 25 years. Her favorite hobbies were cooking and camping. Survivors include children, Linda (Mac) Magee of Zion, Karen (Kenneth) Hayes of Lawton, OK, Robert Allen (Irene) Christian of Trevor, WI, and Cheryl (Timothy) Hall of Winthrop Harbor; grandchildren, Calvin Jr. and Christopher Magee, Jason and Jeremy Christian, Andrea Hauck, Timothy Hall Jr., and Tanya Gilbert; 17 great-grandchildren, and sister-in-law, Blanche Sturman of Kenosha, WI. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Christian, in January of 2010, brother, Victor Sturman; sister, Ann Sturman; and her parents. A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, July 30, 2010, at 12:00 p.m. at Congdon Funeral Home, 3012 Sheridan Rd., Zion, with David Padfield of the Church of Christ of Zion, officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Memorial Park, Zion. Friends may greet the family on Friday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.
