Obituary of Richard Sheltman

Richard Sheltman, 74, of Zion, died on Saturday, June 12, 2010, at home. He was born June 2, 1936, in Greenville, Texas. Richard was retired from the United States Army as a highly decorated Sgt. 1st Class. He was also retired from the John Crane Packing Company (located in the Evanston area) where he was employed as an inventory analyst. Richard was an avid Cub's fan and enjoyed diverse interests like genealogy, geology, jewelry making, and fly fishing. He was also a Dallas Cowboys fan. Lastly, Richard served as a Trustee of the Zion Public Library. Survivors include children, Christina (Brian) Sergott and Jeffrey , Carolynn, Michael, and Richard Sheltman; eight grandchildren; and other family. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Richard and Alma Sheltman, and brothers, Joe and Jack Sheltman. A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, June 19, 2010, at 6:00 p.m. at Congdon Funeral Home, 3012 Sheridan Rd., Zion. Visitation will be Saturday from 4:00 until the time of service at the funeral home. The family offers special thanks to Star Hospice and Richard's personal care giver, Carrie Weniger.
