Obituary of Jay Peterson

Jay Jeffrey Peterson, 52, of Wadsworth, Illinois went home to be with the Lord on June 2, 2010 at Vista Medical Center East in Waukegan. Jay was born September 23, 1957 in Waukegan and moved to Wadsworth in 1966. He attended Glen Flora School in Waukegan, Newport Elementary School in Wadsworth, and graduated in 1976 from Zion-Benton Township High School. Jay was a Journeyman Plumber and part owner of J. W. Peterson Plumbing in Waukegan. Jay accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior at an early age and later rededicated his life in his early 40's. He enjoyed music, traveling, riding and racing his motorcycle, swimming, camping, bowling, billiards, fishing, the outdoors and nature, wildlife, fireworks and spending time with his family and friends. One of his fondest memories was his motorcycle trip out west to Wyoming and South Dakota. Survivors include his parents, Jack and Sue (nee Lawrence) Peterson; sisters, Kay Lynn (Cecil) Scales of Kenosha, Wisconsin and Joan (Terry) Boone of Winthrop Harbor, Illinois; nieces and nephew, Christina (Joe) Cabadas of Caledonia, Wisconsin, Jennifer Scales and Jeffrey Scales both of Kenosha, Wisconsin, and Lyndsie Boone, Lana Boone and Leigh Boone all of Winthrop Harbor, Illinois; great-nephew, Jack Ryan Cabadas of Caledonia, Wisconsin; and many special friends. He was preceded in death by paternal grandparents, John and Lenora Peterson; and maternal grandparents, William Travis and Floy Lawrence. Visitation will be Saturday, June 5, 2010, from 9:00 until 11:00 a.m. at the CONGDON FUNERAL HOME, 3012 Sheridan Road, Zion, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 a.m., Pastor Ralph "Doc" Scherer of A & D Biker Ministries, Racine, Wisconsin, officiating. Private interment will be held later at Mt. Olivet Memorial Park, Zion. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to either the American Diabetes Association or A & D Biker Ministries have been suggested.
