Obituary of Edward Godbold

Edward Godbold Sr. "Buddy" Edward "Buddy" Godbold Sr, 72, of Zion died Monday, May 10, 2010 in Chicago. Edward born April 14, 1938 in Pinehill, Alabama to the union of George and Maryalice (nee Blackman) Godbold. Edward moved to Zion, Illinois in 1969. He attended the Camden Academy School in Camden, Alabama. He married Lula Godbold on August 20, 1967. He was employed by the Goodyear Tires and Rubber Company in North Carolina, and enjoyed working on automobiles and building houses. Edward was a beloved husband and father, and enjoyed family gatherings with cookouts. Edward is survived by his wife of 43 years, Lula (nee Williams) Godbold; children Joe (Vanessa) Williams of Zion, Eddie Godbold of Zion, Edward Jr. Godbold of Zion, Coretta Godbold of Zion, Ronald Godbold of Zion and Colleen Godbold of Zion; three grandchildren David Godbold, Simone and Dior Knox; sisters Cassie Zene of Connecticut, Azalean Russell of Alabama Mary L. Boibeaux of Connecticuit, and Maggie Mae; brothers-in-law Nathan Sr. Williams of Zion, London Williams of Georgia, and Walter Williams of Alabama; sisters-in-law Hattie Bryant of Georgia, Daizy (Fred) Bonner of Alabama, and Willie McKenney of Chicago; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents Mary Alice (nee Blackman) and George Godbold; sisters Bessie (nee Blackman) Pitts and Corine Miccall. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, May 19, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at the CONGDON FUNERAL HOME, 3012 Sheridan Rd. Zion. Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Memorial Park, Zion. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
