Obituary of Mitsuko Thompson

Mitsuko Thompson died at home, April 14, after a long illness. She was a kind, gentle, and loving woman who never met a person she did not like. She brought joy and happiness to her hundreds of friends around the world. She never said no to a person in need. She traveled to over 100 countries and lived for extended periods in 6. Over the last 70 years she has given aid and succor to thousands of victims of various tragedies around the world. She was never deterred by fear for her personal safety, she did what had to be done. She was a hero and an angel. She was a long time member of Soka Gakkai International, an American Buddhist movement that promotes peace and individual happiness. She was born March 9, 1930 in Omuta City, Fukuoka Prefecture, on the island of Kyushu, Japan. She came to Waukegan in 1968. She survived the atomic bombing of Nagasaki Japan. She was the beloved wife of Robert, a man who will be eternally grateful that she chose to give him her love. The world is a more dreary place now that she is gone. She will be missed. A memorial service will be held at the SGI Activity Center.
