Obituary of Ronald Jackson

Ronald "R.J." Jackson, 74, of Beach Park, formerly of Zion, passed away on Sunday, April 11, 2010, at Vista Medical Center East in Waukegan. Ron was born October 5, 1935, in Waukegan and was a 1953 graduate of Zion-Benton Township High School. He married his late wife Elsie Paulson on July 1, 1956 in Mississippi. Ron's career was primarily in real estate for CBS Realtors in Waukegan although he was also retired from Johnson Motors in Waukegan. He was a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose Zion #667. Ron enjoyed the game of golf and shared his love of the game as a golf smith. His many friends golf with clubs that Ron, personally constructed and fitted for them. Ron spent many summers enjoying nature and the outdoors with his family at "RJ's Place" in the Oaks of Montello, WI. Survivors include six children, Luann (Kevin) Jordan of Zion, Cheryl (Dick) Degler of Winthrop Harbor, Ronda (John) Anderson of Beach Park, Barbara (Roger Hacke) Laitinen of Beach Park, Sandra (Mike) Rowland of Zion, and Ron (Sheryl) Jackson II of Trevor, WI; grandchildren, Liz, Kevin II, and Jackie Jordan, Drew, Christy, and Brett Degler, Ian, Jodi, and Luke Anderson, Lana (David) Oliver, Ally Laitinen, Trevor and Trisha Rowland, and Molly and Connor Jackson; great-granddaughter, Faith Jordan; Uncle Bill Jackson of Zion (who was like a father to Ron); many cousins, nieces and nephews and many other family members and life-long friends. Ron was preceded in death by his wife Elsie; father and mother, Alex and Helen (Hensley) Jackson and grandson; Jake Degler. A brother, Alex E. Jackson died in 1934 before Ron was born. A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, April 17, 2010, at 10:00 a.m. at Congdon Funeral Home, 3012 Sheridan Rd., Zion, with Pastor Karen Brown of Beach Community Church, officiating. Interment is private for the family. Visitation will be Friday, April 16, 2010, from 5:00-9:00p.m. at the funeral home.
