Obituary of Mercedes Arcilla

Mercedes C. "Medy" Arcilla, 68, of Beach Park, IL, passed away on Sunday, April 11, 2010, at Manor Care of Highland Park. Mercedes was born September 24, 1941, in Cebu City, Philippines. She married Marco Arcilla on June 14, 1970, in Cebu City, and was a member of St. Patrick's Church in Wadsworth. Mercedes retired from Vista Medical Center (formerly Victory Hospital) in Waukegan after 25 years of service as a registered nurse. She also was formerly employed at Sheridan Health Care Center in Zion. Mercedes was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She loved nature and fishing and gardening. Survivors include her husband of 40 years, Marco; children, Mark Arcilla of Richmond, IL, and Michelle Arcilla of Beach Park, IL; grandson, Maximo Arcilla; sisters, Leticia (Gary) Curler of Milton, WI, Jesusa Canete of Madison, WI, and Gloria (Fidelito) Aradillos also of Madison, WI. Also surviving are nieces and nephews, Dexter, Elizabeth, Farrah, Feryl, Fyl, Garrett and Hannah ; cousins, and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her parents, Primo and Teodora Canete; and a brother, Primo Canete Jr. Visitation will be Wednesday, April 14, 2010 from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at Congdon Funeral Home, 3012 Sheridan Rd., Zion, IL. A Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, April 17, 2010, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Patrick's Church, 15000 Wadsworth,IL.
