Dear Aunt Arlene, Others have said it all, and it all rings so true from the life he lived: Uncle Ralph was a dear man who loved and served the Lord and in everything gave thanks. You and he were a perfect team, and raised a family where Love permeated your space and time, and now look at the rewards in the faces of your children and your grandchildren. What a tribute to you both! I learned so much about Uncle Ralph upon reading about his life, and being with you in Zion to hear such loving tributes from the community and family that spoke volumes about his leadership and dedication to both family and the community. I learned of your support for his causes that were a benefit to the community, again a major team effort. I remember the joys of a 5 year old as your flower girl, so proud, so delighted with my beautiful dress that I shall never forget. I was honored to be chosen as a member of your wedding ‘team’ and honored always to be a relative and recipient of your love for the extended family. The sound of laughter from Aunt Arlene and Uncle Ralph at picnics, Christmas and other holidays and events, was always music to my ears. It will reside in my memory to call up at any time. Yes, you were quite a team in too many ways to cite, but always building, and always effective for the family, church and community. Ralph’s presence as an usher and leader in the church he loved will be missed by everyone who knew him in that role. He was a role model for many, and a mentor to community leaders who were grateful for the guidance he gladly and willingly provided. His success was in large part your own – nothing for his own glory, but all for the glory of God. God bless you, Aunt Arlene, for the loving care you gave your husband through the years of his illness. You have been blessed in myriad ways and always will be. We will be back to visit and look forward to more time together. Much Love to you and the family, Karen Noteboom Murray 1101 S. Arlington Ridge Road Arlington, VA 22202

Dear Aunt Arlene and Family, You have been in my thoughts and prayers the past several days since I heard the news of Uncle Ralph's passing. What a rich heritage he left all of us as a man of service to God, to his family, and to his community. He has truly been an inspiration to me. I have been reflecting on my "religious heritage" lately through a Bible study, "Believing God." I am so thankful for the spiritual heritage of my Noteboom family. Here is a quote from J.C. Ryle's book, Practical Religion, which I have been reading this winter. "How blessed are the hopes which the Bible holds out to the believer in Christ Jesus! Peace in the hour of death, - rest and happiness on the other side of the grave, - a glorious body in the morning of the resurrection, - a full and triumphant acquittal in the day of judgment, - an everlasting reward in the kingdom of Christ, - a joyuful meeting with the Lord's people in the day of gathering together." We all look forward to that joyful meeting one day! In the meantime, I look forward to seeing you in Zion one day soon. With love to your entire branch of our tree, Pat Brunelle 17550 County Road 5 Berthoud, CO 80513

Dear Aunt Arlene: How sorry I am to hear of Uncle Ralph’s passing. How wonderful to know that he finished his race and heard the words from his Savior, “Well done My son” ….oh, that we may all hear those words one day. I read his obituary and it confirmed what a great and generous man; and how the family and community benefitted from his contribution to this earthly life. Congratulations to you on taking care of him for a lifetime! I have been reflecting and calling on memories….and realize that there are too few. I suppose that is the fallout of moving so far away from the family compound…..and yet it has become the American way. What I do know – in my spirit – is how much of a foundation that you and Carol and Pearl have played in this family, I want to thank you and of course your sweet husband of 63 years (wow!) for setting and being the example. I ALWAYS knew it was there – strong, dependable, stable. You and your family built on the foundation that is meaningful. I want to thank you for a lifetime of doing the right thing. It is a wonderful inheritance to your children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. When times got crazy in my own life – raising two kids of my own…I often reflected on the memories of the extended family in Zion and I always remembered what “tree” I was from. I want you to know that we have applied that knowledge of our Savior in our family too and the tree continues to grow and produce fruit – even far away. I remember when Grandma Noteboom passed and the card you wrote to me….I still have it. You said one of her great pleasures was praying for her grandchildren. Thank you for sharing that thought….it became an anchor for me. I just want you to know that folks are caring out here in Colorado. It is hard to say goodbye and yet awesome and wonderful to know that one day - some day we will open our eyes and continue. I pray that the Lord’s comfort on and all around you in the days ahead. You know about abundance and joy and life. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. Susan (Noteboom) Miller 1350 Warbler St Loveland, CO 80537

The sad loss of another fine man who brings fond memories of growing up in Zion. Ralph and my father were both active at church and with the fire department. As serious as the fires were in town, the wonderful group of volunteer firemen did the city proud. Of course there were the fun times of chili/spagetti suppers and netting smelt at the lakefront while us kids waited anxiously to see what creatures the firemen scooped up from lake. After my Mom's passing last August, I donated some of the early pictures, dance programs and fundraising fliers from the early volunteer fire department to be displayed in tribute to the dedicated family men like Ralph who kept us all safe. My condolences and prayers to you all. Sue Biddle Hartrick

You have our deepest sympathy and we will keep your family in our prayers. It is a great comfort to know that Ralph has gone home to be with the Lord. He was a great servant for the Lord and his life was a testimonial to that service. I was fortunate to not only know Ralph as a child growing but also had the opportunity to know him better while working at Johnson Outboards.
