Obituary of Donald Moss

Donald F. Moss Sr. (Pookie) of Zion, IL passed away April 28, 2012 at home surrounded by his family. He was born October 12, 1942 in Urbana, OH to Leroy "Pete" and Isabelle Moss. On November 19, 2012 he married the love of his life, Martha A. (Skipworth) Moss, and to this union four children were born. Donald moved his family to Zion from New York in 1971. He retired from Common Wealth Edison in 1998. Donald confessed Christ at an early age and rededicated his life in October 2000. He was a faithful member of Meadow Ridge Baptist Church; Zion, IL and a member Rufus Mitchell Lodge #107; Waukegan, IL. Donald had a huge heart and loved his family and friends unconditionally. He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife of 51 years, Martha A. Moss; one son, Donald (Lori) Moss Jr. of O'Fallon, IL; three daughters: Yvette Cleaver of Zion, IL; Yvonne Hughes of Starksville, MS and Lucinda (Anthony) Moss-Scott of Beach Park, IL; two brothers: Thomas Moss of Lima, OH and Claude (Tosca) Moss of Urbana, OH; two sisters: Martha Rogan of Urbana, OH and Carolyn (Victor) Williams of Zion, IL; a granddaughter that he raised, Katrina (Shawn "Ty") White of Zion, IL; 19 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was proceeded in death by his parents Leroy and Isabelle Moss; two sisters: Charolette Pearson and Ruth Jackson both of Urbana, OH and one grandson; Darnell M. Moss of Zion, IL. A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, May 5, 2012 at Meadow Ridge Baptist Church, 4500 Rt. 173, Zion, IL, Pastor Rob Whitworth, officiating. 847-872-5514. Visitation will begin at 9am-11am with the service immediately following. Masonic Rites will begin at 10:00, all Brothers who are participating please be at the church no later than 9:30.
