I was sad to hear about Bud passing. My prayers and sympathies to the Bakken family. Bud influenced and brought many lost souls to the Lord, his work certainly will be rewarded in Heaven and fond memories of Bud will remain in our hearts to cherish. Bud has touch my life along with many others providing a compass directed to the Lord. I will always remember my leader in Awanas and a great mentor in life. God Bless, Todd

Uncle Bud was a fine man. Only rarely did I see him blow off steam, but my overall image of him was of a jokester, mirthful, hard working, LOVED the kids he was mentoring in Awana. I really enjoyed seeing the two of you, Bea, a few years ago at my parents' place near Redding. I know Heaven is already a wonderful place, but it is more so today with Bud there!

I'm sad to hear of the loss of Bud... "Mr. Bakken" of course as I knew him when I was a kid. He was one of the most well-known and liked fathers among my friends in the neighborhood. He was always kind and cheerful. I fondly remember his mentoring in Awana - he had just as much fun there with games and activities as us kids. His life obviously touched hundreds of people in positive ways and he will be missed. My sympathies go out to his family for their loss.

Sad to hear about Bud's passing. Will always remember the good times in Texas. Always remember the little Mexican church we attended, where Bud taught Bible school was a fun guy and a great guy. Bee, you will be in our prayers as you and your family go through the following months. It comforts me to know undefined

Pa Bakken was the most Godly man I have ever known, 30 yrs ago I had the honor of meeting Ma and Pa Bakken, who taught me so much about being a good parent, I had never seen such a loving family before in my life, they treated me like a daughter and made me feel like one, because that is just the way they are. My kids were in that Awana program which had many great leaders that taught my children about Jesus.I know Bud will be missed and I know he is in Heaven walking the streets of gold waiting on the rest of us to go home so we can all sing in that choir in the heavens..God has indeed blessed us by allowing Pa to minister to so many all these years, with Love and much respect Pa Bakken.Charlene Leonard (aka Clement)

Bea, We can't hear Bud and your names without seeing your smiling faces and hearing your encouraging words--we're so glad Bud was in Gary's life so many years ago, even when Gary was an ornery teen--and then in both of our lives. And we're glad we imposed on you last March to stay with you!!--as that was our last time to visit with Bud. We love you and will be praying for you and your dear family. Lois & Gary

We were so saddened to hear of Bud's death. I have nothing but the fondest memories of my "Godfather." I have always felt very blessed that my godparents were the perfect role models, for strong faith like theirs is what we all need to rely on. I feel very fortunate that we were able to visit with Bud, Bea and David when they were here in May for mom's funeral. I still am so thankful for their presence during that difficult time. It meant so much to our whole family to have them here. God bless your whole family, Bud will be missed, but all the great memories will be cherished.

got to see Bud only hours before he passed and I am glad I did. Bud was a Godly man and he was surrounded by wonderful family members, each of whom he touched in a special way. On my way home, I thought of him as an Abraham, a Jacob or an Isaac--a simple man of God who raised a family who raise their families in a way that reflects God's principles and values. THIRTEEN Grandchildren! That I did not know. They will all suffer some loss for not getting to spend more time with Bud. For to be around Bud simply made you feel better. He will be missed by all! But without a doubt he is in a better place waiting for all to join him. My condolences to Bea and the family.

Dear Bea and Family, We mourn with you for the loss of a great man - a man who knew God and lived that others would know HIM too. When I first met Bud over 30 years ago I envied my friends Keith and Bruce for the father they had. Bud fathered his children the way I imagine God wants to father us. Lovingly, gently, firmly. Bud always had a kind and gentle word for me, and then for us when we married. This day I think this - to live is Christ, but to die is gain. Ron and Karen
