Obituary of Helen Rutherford

Helen Rutherford, 88, of Beach Park, IL and formerly of Rittman, OH, died on Tuesday, September 8, 2009 at Grand Prairie Nursing Home in Pleasant Prairie, WI. Helen was born September 10, 1920 in Parkersburg, WV, was raised in Vienna, WV and moved to Illinois 17 years ago from Rittman, OH. She worked for a number of years at Great Skate Roller Rink in Kenosha, WI. Helen was a lifetime member of Women Of The Moose and she belonged to Pythian Sisters of Rittman, OH. Survivors include her children, Helen R. Bibbee of Weirton, WV, Paul E. (Judy) Hogsett of Kanawha Station, WV and Sue (Marty) Stanonik of Beach Park, IL; 13 grandchildren, Kathy DeWees, Rodney (Jenny) Deem, Steven Deem, Donald (Alisa) Bibbee, Rebecca (Paul) Bonecutter, Christopher Hogsett, James Hogsett, Jill (Charlie) Broadwater, Noel (Craig) Clinton, Marty Stanonik II, Kelly (Al) Ciepluch, Kris Stanonik and Heather (Justin Spino) Stanonik; 19 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and one brother, Clarence (Juanita) Dye of New Jersey. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Paul F. Hogsett; her second husband, Clyde Rutherford; one daughter, Virginia Fay Deem; two grandchildren, Susan Hogsett and Scott Deem; two sons-in-law, Eugene Bibbee and Ab Deem; and siblings, Virginia Poling, Katie Fry, James Dye, Ida Dye; and one infant sister. The family wishes to express their gratitude for the exceptional care and extends thanks to her caregivers at Grand Prairie Nursing Home, St. Catherine's Hospital and Dr. Brian Hettrick. Visitation will be Sunday, September 13, 2009, from 2:00 until 5:00 p.m. at the CONGDON FUNERAL HOME, 3012 Sheridan Road, Zion. Funeral services will be held later at Gillman Funeral Home in Rittman, OH with interment following at Rittman Cemetery. Memorial donations to either a local animal shelter of choice, or, the American Heart Association have been suggested.
