Obituary of Mary Dolan

Mary "Noreen" Dolan, (nee Ryan), of Zion was welcomed into the arms of Jesus on August 25, 2009. She was born March 7, 1917 to Ella and Frank Ryan of Streator, Illinois. On November 26, 1936, Thanksgiving Day, she married Martin E. Dolan of North Chicago, Illinois. They said their vows at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Streator, Illinois. They made their home in Waukegan, Joliet, Beach Park Illinois, and Kenosha, Wisconsin. They had celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary before Mr. Dolan passed away in June of 2000. Her life was dedicated to her husband and raising her five children. She was a wonderful homemaker and a great cook. Her family never missed a day without some of her homemade baked goods. She ventured out into the working force twice to be a nurse's aide at St. Therese Hospital and a waitress at Rustic Manor but her career was cut short by the needs of her growing family. She was well known for being a "good neighbor" and friend while bringing home cooked dinners to families and friends that had new babies or were recovering from hospital stays/illnesses. She is survived by her five children, Michael (Barbara) Dolan of Oak Park, Illinois, Timothy Dolan of Sarasota, Florida, Eileen (John) Stansbury of Twin Lakes, Wisconsin, Patrick (Cheryl) Dolan of Waukesha, Wisconsin, and Peg (Kevin) Robertson of Beach Park, Illinois; 12 grandchildren, Lisa (Bob) Chamernik of Twin Lakes, WI., Shelly ( Bill ) Ash of St. Petersburg, Florida, Diana Anderson and Phil Erbach of Gurnee, Illinois, Lynne (Mark) Argyilan of Joliet, Illinois, Martin (Dianne) Stansbury of Wadsworth, Illinois, Kenneth Dolan of Sarasota, Fl., Jon (Alie) Stansbury of Kenosha, Wisconsin, Sean (Hillary) Dolan of Chicago, Illinois, Kelly (Amy) Dolan of Arlington Hts., Illinois, Tory Dolan of Waukesha, Wisconsin, Colleen (Tim) Abel of Evanston, Illinois, Caitlin Robertson(Eric Jaburek) of Beach Park, Illinois; 14 great-grandchildren Ryan and Rachael Connelly, Greg Harrison, Jake, Cody, and Cole Anderson, Noah and Nathan Stansbury, Margot and Jake Ash, Chloe Argyilan, Fiona and Theo Dolan, and Sophie Grace Stanbury and her sister Eloise (Karl) Eckert of Lancaster, California, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Martin Dolan, her parents, Ella and Frank Ryan, her brothers Edward, Michael and Patrick Ryan, her sister Maxine Bush, her grand-daughter Vicky Harrington and her beloved friend, Cinto Martinez. Visitation will be on Monday August 31, 2009 at 10:00 at Our Lady of Humility Church, 10655 W. Wadsworth Road, Beach Park, Illinois 60099 with a Funeral Mass following at 11:00 am. We want to say a special thank you to the Staff of Barton Senior Residence in Zion, Illinois especially; Brittany, Tim, Jennifer, Krystle, Brianna, Beatrice, Nancy and Dee. We also would like to acknowledge the care given to our mother by Nurses Dawn Babcock and Judy Pales, Dr. Maureen McGilly and Dr. Jason Sobel and our advocate Ann McMann. The family has requested that memorials donations be made to the St. Jude Foundation, or the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
