Obituary of Alfred Colbert

Alfred "Al" Colbert, 53, of Beach Park, formerly of Zion, died on Monday, August 10, 2009, at Loyola Medical Center, Maywood, IL. Al was born January 10 , 1956, in Macon, GA. He served in the United States Army for 16 years and received the Army Commendation Medal, the Army Achievement Medal and other decorations. Al was currently employed by the Department of Defense and also worked for Ace Hardware in Zion. He was a member of the Rufus Mitchell Masonic Lodge #107 in Waukegan. Al was a loving husband and father who adored his grandchildren and was a friend to all. Survivors include his wife, Sabine; children, Venessa (Pedro) Irizarry of Beach Park and Shane Colbert of Waukegan; grandchildren, Kyle, Xavier, Savanna, Jaden, and McKenzie; mother, Lois Colbert of Macon, GA; brother, Othor Colbert of Macon, GA; and dear friend, Jill Ward and her husband, Brian. He was preceded in death by his father, Othor Colbert. A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, August 14, 2009, at 11:00 a.m. at Congdon Funeral Home, 3012 Sheridan Rd., Zion, IL. Interment is private for the family. Friends may greet the family on Friday from 10:00 a.m until the time of service at the funeral home.
