Am grateful for every contact I ever had with Jean. She was someone not always comfortable with gratitude for what she had done -- was much more focused on what was "to do". Now, perhaps, she will be overwhelmed with all of what she was able to accomplish and how deeply she did affect so many lives.

As so many of the "baby boomers" who grew up in the CCC must feel, I am saddened to hear of Jean Storey's passing. She was a friend to all, and a part of our lives from the Tuesday Night "4th Floor" days of the old College Building to the last time we were at Camp Zion. "Jean's Place," at Camp now holds an even more poignant memory. I grew up under her watchful eye, and counted her as friend. One particular memory of her brings a smile -- early in my career as a camper, I had a blue sweatshirt, so big that I had to roll up the sleeves to wear it. Over many years, this sweatshirt travelled with me to Camp Zion every year. The last time I wore it to Camp, I was a counselor and lifeguard, and the sleeves, which were by then too short, and seriously frayed, were cut off one day before I went down to the dock to watch the kids swim. Jean asked me if that was the same sweatshirt I had worn for the last ten or so years. I was amazed that even such a small detail from one of "her boys" would catch her attention. After that camp session, I burned the sweatshirt in the same way we were taught to burn old flags, in honor of its long and faithful service, and in honor of the lady who noticed that long service. Good-bye, Jean. We will miss you, for awhile, until we are all back together again. In loving memory, Jack Edwards

Jean was an inspiration to all who knew her. She always had a smile, served the Lord with energy and showed the love of Christ to all she met. She will be sorely missed and fondly remembered. My sympathy goes out to her family and friends.

To All the Loved Ones of Jean, I am a CNA at St. Joseph's Home and have had the privilege of being one of the many caregivers for Jean. Her life was a testimony to the God she loved and served for so many years. Her caring spirit, concern and interest in the lives of those she encountered touched all of our lives. For me personally, Jean was a great encouragement to me in my walk of faith; I'm so thankful God purposefully places special people in our lives to edify us. Jean persevered and ran the race well. I'm so thankful to have known Jean, even if only a short time. Nancy Bickle

Jean made a huge impact on my life. I was at Camp Zion every year from about 1964 to 1978. The camps were well run. Jean did everything from lead songs to drive boats. She showed me what it meant to love God and love others.

We remember Jean for her dedication to our youth programs at church and especially at camp Zion. We can't think about camp memories without including Jean. She remembered us long after we were grown and we appreciate her for this. She will be missed.

Jean Storey was such a wonderful blessing to so many. She made Camp Zion! There were times when she would come to the cabins with her flashlight to quiet us down, but she always did so with plenty of love in her heart. She will be missed on this earth, but I am sure her heavenly welcome will be grand. We are all the better because we knew Jean Storey.
