Obituary of Barbara Dodd

Barbara Ann Dodd of Beach Park died on Thursday, June 25, 2009 at her home following a long illness. Barbara was born March 28, 1933 in Phelps, Wisconsin to the late Leonard and Irene (nee Salo) Mackay. She moved to this area in 1946 and married Bobby Gene Dodd on September 8, 1951. She had worked at the Zion Candy Factory which is where she met her husband Bobby. Barbara loved God, her family, her grandkids and great-grandkids, life and working in her garden. Survivors include her husband of 58 years, Bobby Gene Dodd; four sons, Bobby Gene (Valerie) Dodd Jr., Steven Curtis (Julie) Dodd, Scott Dodd and Paul Lee (Carol) Dodd; twelve grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two brothers, Leonard Claude Mackay and Leonard "Corky" Mackay; four sisters, Opal Stedman, Fern Morgan, Phyllis Guntharp and Peggy (Corvella) Pierce; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother. Visitation will be Sunday, June 28, 2009, from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the CONGDON FUNERAL HOME, 3012 Sheridan Road, Zion. Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 29th, at 10:30 a.m. at the Congdon Funeral Home with Pastor Dennis Corley of North Point Church officiating. Entombment will follow at Mt. Olivet Memorial Park, Zion. Memorial donations to North Point Church, 900 N. Lewis Avenue, Winthrop Harbor, Illinois 60096 have been suggested.
