Obituary of Tim Abelgore

Tim Abelgore, 61, of Zion, IL, passed away suddenly on Monday, June 8, 2009, at his home after complications after surgery. Tim was born January 27, 1948, in Streator, IL. Tim loved people, loved to talk and was truly one of the most gentle, kind and loving men you could ever meet. Nothing made Tim prouder than going to car shows with his son and best friend Jeff, and Jeff's '55 Chevy, which they spent many hours in the garage working on together. He worked at numerous Lake County printing firms over the first half of his life, North Shore Printers, National Press and Otar Printers. He retired from Abbott Labs in 2005 and currently has been working for the past 2½years at Bayside Terrace which Tim said was the best job he has ever had. He loved the residents and everyone he worked with, and often would say, "I would work here even if they didn't pay me." Tim was a member of United Memorial United Methodist Church in Zion. Survivors include his son, Jeffrey Alan Abelgore; brother, Thomas (Gloria) Abelgore of Fulton, NY; Lynn (Paul) Gerardy of Zion; nephews; a niece; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. Tim was preceded in death by his father and mother, Vincent and Mary Lou Abelgore; and grandfather and grandmother, James and Ollie Abelgore. A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, June 16, 2009, at 7:30 p.m. at Congdon Funeral Home, 3012 Sheridan Road, Zion, with Rev. Paul Gerardy, officiating. Interment is private for the family. Visitation will be Tuesday, from 5:30 p.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.
