Obituary of Helen Lyding

Helen Lyding, 84, of Waukegan, IL died on Saturday, May 9, 2009 at Midwestern Regional Medical Center in Zion. Helen was born April 25, 1925 in Racine, WI and moved to this area after marrying Joseph in February of 1950. She attended Memorial United Methodist Church of Zion and she was a longtime employee of Brandt's Jewelers of Waukegan, retiring in the mid 1980's. Helen was a member of Lake County Art League. She was a recognized painter, winning many awards for her work. Survivors include her husband of 59 years, Joe; children, Joe (Barbara) Lyding of Champaign, IL and Diane Swanson of Morristown, NJ; and one granddaughter, Paula Lyding. She was preceded in death by one sister, Florence Willis; and by her parents. A memorial service will be held Saturday, June 13, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at the Congdon Funeral Home, 3012 Sheridan Road, Zion, with Pastor Cheryl Esbrook of Memorial United Methodist Church officiating.
