Obituary of Esther Eberhardt
Esther Eberhardt, 92, of Beach Park, IL, died on Monday, May 11, 2009 at home.
Esther was born August 16, 1916 in Columbus, NE. She served in the United States Army during World War II, was stationed in California, and following her honorable discharge in 1945 she moved to Waukegan where she met and married her husband, the late George Eberhardt, on June 18, 1949. She worked at Mathons Restaurant as a Hostess and retired from there after 30 years. Esther was a charter member of Our Lady of Humility Church of Beach Park where she also belonged to the Women's Club. Esther liked playing Dominoes with her special friend Kelsey, as well as playing cards, crossword puzzles and she enjoyed her beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include her children, George (Sue) Eberhardt of Mundelein, IL, Deborah (Richard) Learmont of Winthrop Harbor, IL, Linda Eberhardt of Beach Park, IL, and Gary (Brenda) Eberhardt of Antioch, IL; seven grandchildren, Gustav Eberhardt, Jennifer Eberhardt, Katy (Pete) Myers, Jimmy Rumph, Christine (Dan) Christiansen, Erick (Jamie) Eberhardt and Davin Eberhardt; seven great-grandchildren, Ian, Madysen, Abigail, Jack, Ellsa, Avah and Lily; one brother, Richard (Mary) Gdowski of Colombus, NE; and one brother-in-law, George O'Donnell of Beach Park, IL; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1991, George; sisters, Eleanor, Irene and Clem; brothers, Joe and Raymond; and her parents, Louis and Sophie Gdowski.
Visitation will be Wednesday, May 13, 2009, from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the CONGDON FUNERAL HOME, 3012 Sheridan Road, Zion.
Mass of Christian burial will be Thursday, May 14th, at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Humility Church, 10655 W. Wadsworth Road, Beach Park. Interment will follow at Ascension Cemetery, Libertyville. Memorial donations to either Our Lady of Humility Church, or, Little City Foundation, 1760 W. Algonquin Road, Palatine, IL 60067 have been suggested.
