Ruth, Although I know how difficult it is to let your mother go, I am happy for you that you were able to have a wonderful talk with her. I speak from experience when I tell you that you will always miss being able to talk to her, but I know she is listening to you in heaven. May God comfort you in this time of sorrow. Sue

My thoughts and prayers are with you, Ruth, and with everyone who knew and loved your mother. Helvi gave such joy to those of us lucky enough to have known her! She will be missed. I will always be grateful for the Easter in Chicago and Mother's Day in Waukegan that I got to spend in her company. I was very new to Chicago at the time, and Helvi's quick laugh, challenging mind, and warm heart instantly made me feel like I was home with my own mother. (Thanks for sharing her, Ruth!) Among thoughts of our own grief, let's remember that God is holding her in the palm of His hand now and bringing her well-earned, eternal peace. We weep, but Heaven surely is celebrating her arrival.

We offer our condolences for your loss, and hope this poem will offer some kind of peace. Nature's Memory I will see your face as a constant memory through nature; Your eternal sunshine of your smile will shine continuously upon me As if to watch over me. I will always feel the gentle breeze of your loving touch As if to say to me that I will not ever walk alone. In memory, you will always live on within my heart and mind to give me strength through troubled times.

Growing up in Marquette, Michigan, I remember staying at the farm in Trenary with Aunt Helvi, John, and Ruth as a child during the summer when they would visit. I recall Helvi saying that she always thought of Trenary as home, even though she had not lived there for a very long time. I'm glad that she was able to enjoy Trenary in recent years and that it has remained in Ruth's good care.
