Obituary of Sylvia Pettry

Sylvia Pettry, 72, of Gurnee, passed away on Tuesday, February 24, 2009, at Froedtert Hospital in Milwaukee. Sylvia was born on November 23, 1936, in Helliur, KY, and married Jack Pettry on June 18, 1955. Their union took them from Packsville, West Virginia, to Highwood, IL, and to finally settle in Waukegan, IL, for most of their lives. Sylvia worked as a nursing assistant at Highland Park Hospital and Winchester House. She was a die-hard Cub fan and loved and adored her children, grand-children, and great-grandchildren. Sylvia is survived by seven children. Beverly (Gary) Cohen of Gurnee, Jackie (Art) Wakefield of Sevierville, TN, Lane (Ramona) Pettry of Glencoe, AL, Dewayne Pettry of Gurnee, Greg (Mary) Pettry of Trussville, AL, Jeanne (Mike) Knodel of Zion, and Jennifer (Tom) Granger of Beach Park; nineteen grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband Jack Pettry in 2005, sister, Bonnie Scott; brother, Roger Scarbro; and her parents. A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, March 2, 2009, at 11:00 a.m. at Congdon Funeral Home, 3012 Sheridan Rd., Zion. Interment will follow at Pineview Memorial Park, Beach Park.
