TO THE EKLUND FAMILY, IT IS SAD TO HEAR OF UNCLE PAUL'S PASSING. HE WAS MY FAVORITE UNCLE. HE AND I HAD THE SAME SENSE OF HUMOR. I REMEMBER RIDING IN MY DADS BUICK AND WE PASSED A SIGN IN CHICAGO FOR TOOSTIE ROLLS, WE WERE IN THE BACK SEAT. HE LOOKED AT ME AND THEN LOOKED AT THE SIGN AND SAID, "TWO PLEASE"! I LOVED THAT. I SAY THAT TODAY WHEN WE PASS A BEER BILLBOARD. I DO REMEMBER WHEN HE TOOK US TO THE FOOTBALL GAME IN THE COLD IN ZION. I WAS ABOUT 10, WE SAW THE GAME AND HE TOOK ME AND MY BROTHER TO MCDONALD'S FOR HOT CHOCOLATES AND FRIES. THE STRAW MELTED IN THE HOT CHOCOLATE. GOOD DAY. I THINK THE BEST MEMORIE OF UNCLE PAUL WAS WHEN HE AND ILA AND AUNT STINA CAME UP TO MUSKEGON, MI. JIM MY BROTHER AND I HAD JUST GOTTEN OFF THE BUS AT OUR STOP. THEN THIS BIG , GIANT, GOURGIOUS 1976 CADILLAC, TWO DOOR, YELLOW, SQUARE HEAD LIGHTS, PULLED UP NEXT TO US. WE THOUGHT IT WAS A KING, BUT IT WAS UNCLE PAUL AND GAVE US A RIDE TO OUR HOME IN MUSKEGON. I DO HAVE HIS LOVE OF SAUSAGE, MOTHER OF PEARL DO I. HE LIKED IT AS WELL. I REMEMBER GOING TO MILWAUKEE TO SEE HIM AT ST. LUKE'S FOR HIS HEART DEAL. I WALKED IN SAT DOWN AND SAID," WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE"? HE SAID, "JUST IN THE SHOP AGAIN, THAT'S ALL". LOVED THAT. A FEW YEARS AGO, WE HAD THE CHANCE TO GO TO LUNCH WITH ILA AND PAUL, WE WENT TO APPLEBIES, WITH MY FOLKS AND MY NEW WIFE. WE HAD LUNCH AND ALL WERE DONE, BUT UNCLE PAUL. I LOOKED AT HIM, LIGHTLY AND THEN AGAIN. HE LOOKED ME SQUARE IN THE EYES AND SAID, "JORDIE, I GET AN HOUR FOR LUNCH". I CRACKED UP. UNCLE PAUL IS A GOOD MAN, A TOTAL CADILLAC. ONE OF THE FINEST MEN I KNOW. JUST KNEW HOW TO BE AND HOW TO DO THINGS. I'M GLAD I KNOW HIM. HE LEAD A GOOD LIFE AND LIKE I ALWAYS SAY, THE TIME BEFORE US DOES NOT BELONG TO US ANYMORE THAN THE TIME AFTER US DOES. I BELIEVE UNCLE PAUL HAD HIS TIME TO A TEE. COULD NOT HAVE BEEN DONE ANY BETTER. I HOPE THAT FOR US ALL. MY MOTHER, HIS SISTER AND I ARE TYRING TO GET DOWN THE FOR THE SERVICE. MA IS 83 NOW AND MY DAD IS IN A HOME. WE WILL SEE WHAT WE CAN DO ABOUT THAT. IT ALL HINGES ON MA. BUT YOU KNOW, IF A BIG OLE 1976, YELLOW CADILLAC, JUST MIGHT PULL UP WITH UNCLE PAUL IN IT, IT WOULD BE A DONE DEAL. I'M SURE HE WOULD LOOK AT ME AND SAY, "WHERE ARE WE GOING TO? I'D SAY, "NOT SURE UNCLE PAUL, BUT I DO BELIEVE WE SHALL HAVE TWO PLEASE"! NEPHEW JORDAN L. Dear Aunt Ila and family, I am so sorry for your loss. Uncle Paul was and is such a man of God. I will remember his kind spirit and gentle nature. He also had a fun sense of humor and always enjoyed teasing. His life was evidence of having the joy of the Lord in his heart and a love that the world cannot give. I remember many Thanksgivings and Easters when our two families celebrated together and they were special times. I mentioned he liked to tease but it got him in trouble one time. I had just had a prank call and he called right afterward. He didn't identify himself so I didn't realize who it was and I thought it was the prankster calling back so I hung up. We both had a good laugh when he called back and quickly said this is your Uncle Paul. You have to smile as you remember him and wonder what he and Jesus are discussing. Also I imagine Roland and Margaret are welcoming him big time. Ila you two are a beautiful witness to how a family should live with God as the head. You have given such a legacy of faith and love to your four boys and family. God bless you and please know that you will be in my prayers daily for a long time to come. Love, Peggy

Heaven needed another Swede! Dear Aunt Ila, cousins Rich, Tim, Jeff & Dave and families, He lived a good, long life, and made a dent in the world through his teaching, civic affairs and that wonderful sense of humor he had! I loved his wit and warmth, and he was my favorite Uncle. I am so glad he had a chance to tell me more about our family in Sweden, it helped me find where they are. Whenever I see a thing of MILK DUDS,I think of him because he busted Jordy and I up once by saying he wanted to toss them at sleeping people's heads in church, and when they woke up and looked behind, he would look up and be innocent! That was hystercial! He must have had the touch of the minister's kid syndrome! One fond memory was he and Aunt Ila, Aunt Stina and Aunt Margaret and Uncle Marvin being at my sister Julie's wedding in East Lansing, MI in 1978. They were at one table, and Stina and Margaret danced together once dance. I remember Paul & Ila dancing together too. We had such fun there. A home movie shows Uncle Paul and Aunt Ila riding the tandem bikes my folks rented for our family reunion in Austin, Mn in 1965. I was just a little tot then in the playpen. I also remember being at Big Lake with Uncle Paul and Ila, and Margaret and Marvin with our family in 1976. Aunt Glenda was overwelmed by us, so Uncle Paul went out and bought Kentucky Fried Chicken for all of us. I still loved using the outhouse like my grandparents did, even though there was indoor plumbing now in the cabin. I remember Roland, Paul and Mom and Margaret going out in their father's old rowboat together with a lantern in the lake. I'd love to think that he is at the lake again, in the rowboat with his family with the lantern again. I loved that old cabin and lake there. Please know that Uncle Paul is in heaven, having a great reunion with his family, and he is in the light around the throne of glory that we all await someday too. Much love and admiration to all of you. Peace and wondrous love to all of you also, from God and the lamb. Your nephew and cousin, Jimmy Denver, CO
