Obituary of Mary Becker

Mary Jane "Peppie" Becker, 86, of Zion, IL died on Friday, March 24, 2012 at Rolling Hills Manor Nursing Home in Zion. She was born February 7, 1926 in Paris, France. She met her husband Robert in Paris in 1946 while he was serving with the United States Army-Air Force in France. They married in 1947 in Paris. Throughout his military career they moved 21 times around the world and settled in Zion in 1969. She owned and operated Peppie's Dolls in Zion for 20 years. Survivors include her husband Air Force Major Robert Becker (Ret.); children Edward Becker of Kenosha, WI, Phillip (Cindy) Becker of Sioux City, IA, Francine (fiancé Roger Winans) Becker of St. Petersburg, FL, and Johanne (Steven) Ahonen of Winthrop Harbor, IL; ten grandchildren Jennifer, Brian, Nicole, Melissa, Kimberly, Robert, and Christina Becker, and Jason, Eric, and Aaron Ahonen; and ten great-grandchildren Payton, Ava, Kate, Cash, Alassan, and Natalia Becker, and Lucas, Logan, Lauren, and Landon Ahonen. She was preceded in death by siblings Ailene Maisonneuve, Marie Therese Purcel, Denise Vaganey, John Paul Vaganey, and Dennis Vaganey; and her parents Louis and Suzanne Vaganey. Visitation will be Tuesday, March 27, 2012, from 2:00 until 3:00 p.m. at the CONGDON FUNERAL HOME, 3012 Sheridan Road, Zion, IL, followed by a funeral service at 3:00 p.m., Rev. Eileen Shanley-Roberts of Christ Episcopal Church of Waukegan officiating.
