Mr. Otterbacher was my teacher a Central Junior High in 1977. He changed my life for ever by making me understand discipline, tolerance, and being open minded as he always was willing to listen to all his students with a smile. He made me enjoy science and I will forever be grateful for his dedication to me and his students as a true teacher. Without his teachings I would not be who I am today as he is among the top teachers that made an impact on my life. Today, I pay my respects to a great teacher which I hope to meet again in heaven. Thank you for everything you have taught me Mr. Otterbacher. I will be forever thankful for your dedication and making an impact to thousands of kids over the decades. You have made an impact in our lives.

I want to offer my condolences to the family. I shall always remember Theron's ready smile when I visited Christ Community Church when I got back to Zion AND all the years I and my family attended services there through the years. He shall be missed but we all know where he is.

Theron was one of the most honorable men I've ever had the pleasure to know. His grace and charm are so evident in his daughter, my daughter-in-law Heidi, and my Son Ryan thought so highly of him that he is now mourning the loss of not just his father-in-law but his friend, mentor, and father figure. He is leaving behind such a legacy for his children and grandchildren and all of Zion is now saddened by his departure. He will be missed terribly.

Theron was one of the greatest! I take immense pleasure in stating that I knew him and I respected him highly. He was an inspiration to me and the foundation for what I find to be my motivation and character as a law enforcement officer. Many times in my career I have found myself asking, how would Theron handle this or what would Theron think of what I was doing? As a young impressionable officer, Theron gave me reassurance and guidance that molded me into the professional lawman I am today. Theron not only shared of himself as a law enforcement officer and mentor, but also as a big brother/ father figure. I have countless memories of Theron and I sharing conversations of all types, and vivid reflections upon his expressions be they cheerful words, laughter or that inquisitive glance he would give me at times. To say that I am especially pleased that I knew him would be an understatement. Theron will be missed by many. My most sincere thoughts and prayers are with all who grieve his passing. However, I know that his family will feel the greatest loss as Theron was not only a kind and good man, but a loving person who was extremely proud of his family and spoke highly of them. Truly there is one more angel in heaven, Theron you will be missed here on Earth!

May you all experience great comfort knowing Theron is free from pain and enjoying the presence of His Lord. And may His presence in your life sustain you as you seek to adjust to your loss. We send our love and prayers to you, Sue, and all the family. BEYOND THE CLOUDS We’d love to peek beyond the clouds To view the precious sight As our dear loved ones bow before The One who gave them life. It’s sweet to picture His strong arms Enfolding them in love He whispers words of healing Reserved for those above So as we glimpse beyond the clouds And long for our own flight We thank him for our loved one Who now lives in His light. Dear Otterbacher Family: Please accept our deepest condolences and sympathy for your loss. We (Steve, Sherri & Tony Holbrook) sorely missed Therron this past year as we had become seasonal travelers with Therron to re-enacting events in Ohio and places further east. Based on our conversations at the events (and especially over a hearty meal at Bob Evans - Therron's restaurant of choice), it sounded like your family life and relationships were good and fulfilling. Grace and Peace to all of you as you adjust to your loss.

On behalf of the Department of the Geographer to the Army, 1777-1783, I would like to extend condolences to the Otterbacher family. Theron joined our organization in 2006, was a dedicated living historian, and always went above and beyond the call of duty to serve. Congratulations, Theron, on a life well-spent. It was a pleasure knowing you, if only for a brief time.
