Obituary of Robert Anderson

Robert "Daddy Bob" Anderson, 83, of Zion, died on Saturday, November 15, 2008 at Holy Family Medical Center in Des Plaines, IL. Robert was born April 25, 1925 in Nashville, TN. As a child he grew up in Brookfield, IL, then he resided in Lake County and for the past 32 years has lived in Zion. He was a member of Our Lady of Humility Church, Beach Park. Robert was employed by Commonwealth Edison for 41 years, retiring in 1987 as Senior Stockman at the Zion Plant. He was a Veteran of World War II, having served with the United States Navy on board the USS LST 293. He was also a lifetime member of Winthrop Harbor VFW, and was a member of Zion-Benton Moose Lodge #667 and Tiny's Social Club of North Chicago. Robert also enjoyed bowling, playing pool, horse shoes and he enjoyed working Bingo on Thursday nights. Survivors include his wife of 36 years, Carol; children, Lauchlan Jones of Oswego, IL, Robert (Glenda) Anderson of Island Lake, IL, Holly (Bruce) Hanson of Grand Rapids, MI, Granville (Marie) Anderson of Winthrop Harbor, Lori Hernandez of Waukegan and Amie (George) Anderson of Twin Lakes, WI; 14 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; one sister, Kathryn Pernal of Debary, FL; and many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by one brother, Howard; one grandchild; one great-grandchild; and his parents, Robert and Odelle Anderson. A memorial mass will be held on Thursday, November 20, 2008, at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Humility Church, 10655 W. Wadsworth Road, Beach Park. Memorial donations to Moose International, 155 S. International Drive, Mooseheart, IL 60539 have been suggested.
