Obituary of Alex Mohr

Alex Mohr, 97, of Beach Park, IL, went home to be with his Lord on Thursday, October 23, 2008 following a lengthy illness with cancer. Alex was of German descent and was born in the small village of Bidek in Russia during the revolution. He left Russia with his family when he was 12 years old and came to America through Ellis Island. Alex lived in Beach Park most of his life and he was very active in political affairs. He was named "Mr. Beach Park" in recognition of his time and service benefitting the village he so loved - "Beach Park". Alex is survived by his wife, Patsy R. Mohr (formerly Buttera). Alex also has several grandchildren and great-grandchildren on his side and also his wife's side, including Susan (Darryl) Menard, Thomas (Vera) Buttera, Joseph (Sue) Buttera, the late Robert (Sue Carol) Buttera and James (Ronda) Buttera. He was also preceded in death by two daughters, Mary and Audrey. He was greatly loved by his family and will be missed by all. Visitation will be Wednesday, October 29, 2008, from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at the CONGDON FUNERAL HOME, 3012 Sheridan Road, Zion. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 29th at 11:00 a.m. at the Congdon Funeral Home with Pastor Jon Wiziarde of Christ Community Church officiating. Entombment will follow at Mt. Olivet Memorial Park, Zion. Memorial donations to Camp Zion, a ministry of Christ Community Church, has been suggested.
