Obituary of Charles Stried

Charles A. Stried, Sr., 93, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, August 26, 2008 in the presence of his loved ones in Keller, TX. He was born on July 15, 1915 to Clarence and Beulah (nee Franks) Stried Sr. Charles is survived by his beloved wife of 69 years, Catherine (nee Handyside) Stried; a brother, Jack Stried; a sister, Pearl Miller; and two children, Charles (Waiva) Stried, Jr. and Connie Bruss; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Susanne Joy Melander; daughter-in-law, Patricia (nee Ianson) Stried); a son-in-law, Robert Bruss; four brothers; and one sister. Charles proudly retired from Johnson Motors Outboard Marine after 32 years. He and his wife served in the ministry together for many years. They helped start Zion Bible Church, and for years he was an Elder at Zion Revival Center. He touched countless lives with healing and hope. Charles loved his Lord and his family and he will be greatly missed. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, September 2, at Christian Assembly of God, 2929 Bethel Blvd., Zion, IL, with Pastor Ken Fielding officiating. Visitation will be held from 1:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the church. Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Memorial Park, Zion, IL.
