Obituary of David Bigelow

David E. Bigelow, 61, of Zion, formerly of Winthrop Harbor, died on Saturday, August 2, 2008, at Vista Medical Center East in Waukegan. David was born October 19, 1946, in Ogema, WI, and was a 1965 graduate of Zion-Benton Township High School. He married Catherine Elliott on May 16, 1970, in Winthrop Harbor. David was a United States Navy Veteran of the Vietnam War. He was a retired bricklayer with the Brick and Stone Mason's Local #20. David enjoyed hunting and fishing. Survivors include his sons, Scott Bigelow of Zion, David E. Bigelow Jr. of Boulder, CO, and Allen of CA; one grandchild; mother, Judith Bigelow of Zion; sister, Linda Barker of Zion; brother, Ronald (Ruth) Bigelow of Lake Villa, IL; sister-in-law, Elaine Bigelow of WI; several nieces and nephews, and several great- nieces and great-nephews; and many cousins. He was preceded in death by his wife, Catherine Bigelow in 1993; father, John E. Bigelow; brother, John R. Bigelow; nephew, John R. Bigelow Jr.; and grandparents, Raymond and Zada Bigelow and Emmett and Grace Dodson. A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, August 7, 2008, at 1:00 p.m., at Congdon Funeral Home, 3012 Sheridan Rd., Zion, IL. Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Memorial Park, Zion. Visitation will be Thursday, from 12:00 p.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.
