Obituary of Wayne Hietikko

Wayne A. Age 77, of Zion, IL, died on Saturday, March 17, 2012, at home. Wayne was born March 31, 1934, in Brimley, MI. He married Helen Joan Higgs on July 19, 1959 at St. Anastasia Church in Waukegan and was a veteran of the United States Army. Wayne had been employed as a Shift Manager with Standard Oil for many years. He loved to garden and fish and in later years made a hobby of the stock market. Wayne was proud of a 45 year membership with the Loyal Order of the Moose, Zion Lodge #667. Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Helen; children, Jeannette Henry, JoAnn Wartzenhuft, and Robert Wayne (Cheryl) Hietikko; grandchildren, Alyssa Henry, Keith and Kendra Wartzenhuft, and Jacob, Jared, and Aaron Hietikko; many, many, nieces and nephews, and other family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar and Linda Hietikko; and six brothers and three sisters. Visitation will be Tuesday, March 20, 2012, from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at Congdon Funeral Home, 3012 Sheridan Rd., Zion, IL. Funeral Service will be Wednesday, March 21 at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Memorial Park, Zion. Memorial donations are suggested to the Men and Women Scholarship Fund of Zion Moose Lodge #667.
