Obituary of Joyce Opal

Joyce Opal (nee Palmer), 84, passed away December 25, 2014 at home in Beach Park, IL. Joyce was born March 6, 1930 in Waukegan, IL and was a life long resident of Beach Park. She graduated from Zion-Benton Township High School in 1948. She worked at First National Bank, Bank of Waukegan, and at The Lake County Contractor Association. In her free time, she liked to play cribbage and golf. She was an independent person, but also a great companion to her mother for many years, during which time they shared a home. She is survived by her son, Griff of Beach Park; her grandchildren; and a younger brother, Bill (Mary Lu) Palmer. Joyce was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Lincoln and Theal Palmer; brother, Harley; sister, Judi; first husband, Neal and second husband Howard. A visitation will be held on January 2, 2015 from 11:00 until 12:00 p.m. at Congdon Funeral Home, 3012 Sheridan Road, Zion. A funeral service will follow at 12:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will take place at Pineview Memorial Park, Beach Park. Memorial donations to the family have been suggested.
