Obituary of Marion Strean

Marion L. Strean (nee Lyons), 88, of Winthrop Harbor, passed away on November 16, 2014 at Aurora Medical Center in Kenosha, WI. Marion was born August 14, 1926 in Waukegan, IL, the only child of Mildred (Spaulding) and Fred Lyons. She grew up in Waukegan and graduated from Waukegan High School in 1943. Shortly there after she met William Strean on a blind date, they married on March 22, 1944, in Oceanside, CA. She loved to travel, sew, crochet, and watch the birds in her back yard. She is survived by a son, Steve Strean of Bristol, WI; and a daughter, Debbie Grimes of Winthrop Harbor; former son-in-law Larry Grimes; grandchildren Mike Strean, Eric (Caryn) Strean, Jennifer Strean, Lindsay Strean, Nicole Strean, Stephanie Strean, Jeremy, Kyle and Josh Grimes; step-grandson Robby Grimes; great grandchildren Matthew and Rebecca Strean-Dunn, Madeleine and Elliot Strean, Aurelia Strean, and Mason Grimes; sister-in-law Tina Smith; brother-in-law Leonard Eschenbauch; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband William Strean; son Larry Strean; daughter-in-law Linda Strean; sisters-in-law Wanda Eschenbauch, Josephine Hopkins; brothers-in-law Robert Strean and Sam Smith. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 19, 2014 from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the Congdon Funeral Home, 3012 Sheridan Rd., Zion. Interment will be private for the family.
