Obituary of Benny Taylor

Benny F. Taylor, 61, of Winthrop Harbor, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 9, 2012, at home surrounded by family. Benny was born November 30, 1950 in Hamilton, AL. Benny Married Linda Hatcher on July 7, 1973, in Zion, IL. He had a long career in sales with both the Pepsi-Cola Company and Hostess Cake. Benny was a veteran of the United States Army. He enjoyed the sport of fishing, loved his dogs, had a major affection for sweets, and treasured his time with family & friends. Survivors include his wife of 38 years, Linda; daughter, Sandra "Sam" (Howard) Davis of Kenosha, WI; Timothy Taylor of Zion, IL, Shera (Chuck) Smith of Winthrop Harbor, IL, and Laura (Robert) Gergely of Lindenhurst, IL; grandchildren, Amanda, Elizabeth, Matthew, Ella, Abby, Alex, Charlie and Taylor; three great-grandchildren; sister, Diann Griffith of Zion, IL; mother-in-law, Gloria Smith of Winthrop Harbor, IL, several nieces & nephews and a large loving extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Seldon & Dorothy Taylor; and son, Matthew Taylor. Visitation will be Tuesday, March 13, 2012, from 5:30-8:30 p.m. at Congdon Funeral Home, 3012 Sheridan Rd., Zion, IL. A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, March 14, at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Memorial Park ,Zion.
