Obituary of Edwin Speicher

Edwin A. Speicher, 95, a former 50 year plus resident of Winthrop Harbor, IL, died on Saturday, June 21, 2008, at home in Chicago. He was born December 26, 1912, in Zion, IL, and married his late wife Olga Larsen in 1938 in Zion. He was a member and former treasurer of the Winthrop Harbor United Methodist Church. His father, John Speicher, chose the site of the City of Zion. Edwin was retired from G.L. Miller Dodge in Waukegan. He was the 1982 "Man of the Year" in Winthrop Harbor, a former Village Trustee, and a charter member of the Winthrop Harbor Volunteer Fire Department. Survivors include daughter, Judy (Dennis) Bober of Chicago, son, Roger (Stacey) Speicher of Arlington Heights, IL; and grandson, Jordan Speicher. He was preceded in death by his wife Olga in 1978. A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, July 20, 2008, at 1:00 p.m at the Winthrop Harbor United Methodist Church, 600 College Ave., Winthrop Harbor. Edwin's interment will be private at Mt. Olivet Memorial Park in Zion.
