Obituary of Arizona Lewis

Mrs. Arizona Lewis, 81, of Beach Park, IL, died on Saturday, June 21, 2008 at home. Arizona was born October 24, 1926 in Rella, KY, and married her late husband, Melvin Lewis on December 15, 1943. She was a member of Beach Community Church in Beach Park, IL. Survivors include children, Curtis Lewis of Arjay, KY, Carolyn (Edward Merle) Bridges of Beach Park, IL, JoAnn (Robert) Osborne of Kenosha, WI, Janice Sue (James Earl) Rushing of Chesapeake, VA, and Larry (Deborah) Lewis of Winthrop Harbor, IL; 14 grandchildren, Leslie Carol and Kirsten Lynn Bridges, Larry Ray and Donald Smith, Teresa (nee Smith) Jackson, Adam Smith, Brandi (nee Lewis) Hargroue, Valerie (nee Rushing) Link, Andrea Rushing, Brittani (nee Lewis) McCafferty, Kimberly (nee Lewis) McCulley, Drena (nee Lewis) Miller and Melvin Curtis Lewis; 19 great-grandchildren; and sisters, Ethel Handley and Nora and Georgia Brummett, all of Kentucky. She was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin; sisters, Flora Brummett, Bessie Green, Evelyn Handley, and Martha Alice Rice (Martha died at birth); and parents, Benjamin Harrison and Julia Rice. Visitation will be Monday, June 23, 2008, from 4:00-7:00 p.m at Congdon Funeral Home, 3012 Sheridan Rd., Zion, IL, with a funeral service at 7:00 pm., with Pastor Gay Brown of Beach Community Church of Beach Park, officiating Further Services will be held at House-Rawlings Funeral Home, London, Kentucky. Burial will be in Cumberland Memorial Gardens, Corbin, KY.
