Obituary of Mariebeth Balay

Mariebeth P. Balay, 29, of Zion, IL died October 2, 2014 at St. Luke's Medical Center in Milwaukee, WI. Mariebeth was born January 21, 1985 in Waukegan and was a life long resident of Zion. She graduated from Zion-Benton Township Highschool in 2004 and then became an employee of Northpointe Achievement Center. She and many of her friends from work were part of a group who liked get-togethers, karaoke and dancing. Outside of work, Mariebeth liked watching videos on youtube, and was always looking forward to attending any upcoming party. She was lovable and got along with everyone, and especially liked babysitting her nieces and nephews. Mariebeth is survived by her mother, Belinda Balay of Zion, IL; father, Rolando Balay Sr. of Cavite Philippines; siblings, Rolando (Mayra) Balay of Zion, IL, and Maryann (Arron) Stroud of Zion, IL; nephews and nieces, Alexia Balay, Naiyah Abutin, Gianna Braun, Tristian Balay, and Aveon Stroud; many aunts and uncles; grandmother, Ceferina V. Peel; 13 cousins; 12 second cousins; best friend, Suzie; and most importantly, boyfriend, Steven Murray. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandfathers, Lim Chiok and John D. Peel; paternal grandparents, Urbana Balay, and Salvador Balay; sister, Mary Balay; Aunts, Lorna Abrassado, and Victoria Jarencio; and uncle, Bienvenido Balay. Visitation will be held Friday, October 10, 2014 from 6:00 until 9:00 p.m. at Congdon Funeral Home, 3012 Sheridan Road, Zion. Mass of Christian burial will be held Saturday, October 11, 2014 at Our Lady of Humility Church, 10655 W. Wadsworth Road, Beach Park, IL. Entombment will follow at Mt. Olivet Memorial Park, Zion.
