Obituary of Eleanor Ehlers

Eleanor Ehlers, 84, of Beach Park, Illinois, passed away on Thursday, June 5, 2008, at home and surrounded by her loved ones. Eleanor was born September 10, 1923 in Iron River, Michigan to Joe and Bernice Znorowski. She loved to spend time with her family and friends and she enjoyed crocheting doilies and making rugs on her loom. Survivors include her husband of 59 years, Melvin; three sons, Gene of Zion, Greg (Cheryl) of Mayfield, Kentucky and Jeff (Melissa) of Waukegan; five grandchildren Jennifer and Matt of Zion, Jeffrey of Lindenhurst, and Kimberly and Nikolus of Waukegan; sisters Dorothy (Paul) Martin of Kenosha and Edna (the late Erv) Scheske of Libertyville; and many relatives, friends, and her beloved cat "Furby". She was preceded in death by her parents Joe & Bernice Znorowski; and five brothers and one sister. A memorial visitation will be held on Thursday, June 12, 2008, from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the CONGDON FUNERAL HOME, 3012 Sheridan Road, Zion. Burial will be private later in Iron River, Michigan. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to Animal Protection, P.O. Box 106, Gurnee, IL 60031 have been suggested.
