Obituary of Olis Mink

Olis "Odie" Wayne Mink, 72, of Zion, IL, went home to be with the Lord "peacefully" on Sunday August 3, 2014 while at home with his family. He was born on January 29, 1942 in Fulton, Mississippi. Olis always told jokes and kept his family laughing. He enjoyed bartending, fishing and spending time with family. Olis is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Sharon Mink of Zion, IL; his mother Lurlie Mink of Red Bay, AL; four children Janice (Henry) Gonzalez of Zion, IL, Darren (Jennifer) Mink of Beach Park, IL, Dennis Mink of Zion, IL, and Carleen (Edward) Curtis of Beach Park, IL; thirteen grandchildren, Kimberly Gonzalez, David (Krystal Staton) Gonzalez, Heather (Pedro) Hernandez, Mark (Melissa Giles) Gonzalez, Kelly Gonzalez, Scott Gonzalez, Randy Gonzalez, Cheyenne Mink, Ashley Mink, Dayveon Curtis, Marionah Curtis, Donovan Curtis, and Devin Curtis; three great-grandchildren, Jaylin Gonzalez, Skylar Gonzalez and Mariah Gonzalez, and expecting the fourth great grandchild, Julian Gonzalez, one cousin L.V. Russell of Red Bay, AL and one nephew Michael (Jennifer) Stout of Virginia Beach, Va. Olis was preceded in death by his father Void Mink, his sister Mildred (Mink) Stout, and 3 grandchildren Edward D. Curtis Jr., Jessica Gonzalez, and Johnathan Gonzalez. A visitation will be held on Saturday August 9, 2014, at CONGDON FUNERAL HOME, 3012 Sheridan Road, Zion, from 3:00 until 5:00 pm. A funeral service will follow at 5:00 pm with Dr. Michael Brown officiating. Interment services will be private for the family.
