Obituary of Ben Ames

Ben Ames, 66, of Beach Park, IL passed away suddenly on Tuesday, July 15, 2014 in Waukegan, IL. He was born January 11, 1948 in Waukegan and was a life long resident of Beach Park and Waukegan. He was employed as a printer at Great Lakes Naval Base. He enjoyed camping, traveling with his wife to the Carribean and enjoyed attending local events. He enjoyed spending time in the company of friends. Ben would help anyone in need. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and friend to all. Survivors include his wife Doe, whom he married 19 years ago on the beach in St. Thomas; two children Roy (Diane) Ames of Salem, WI and Cheri Romanczak of Cumming, GA; three grandchildren Scott, Raegan, and Lindsay; mother-in-law Mary Majer; sister-in-law Sonja (Ziggy) Kosobucki; two nieces Cheryl (Jeff Kramer) Larsen and Madeline Kosobucki; two nephews Greg (Greta) Eatherly and Peter Kosobucki; and many friends. He was preceded in death by two sisters Donna Doshier and Patricia Eatherly; and his mother Evelyn Ames. Visitation will be Monday, July 21, 2014, from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. at the CONGDON FUNERAL HOME, 3012 Sheridan Road, Zion, IL, followed by a funeral service at 7:00 p.m.
