Obituary of Valentine Rodriguez

Valentine "Val" Rodriguez, 81, of Zion, IL, formerly of Waukegan, IL, died on Sunday, June 15, 2014, at Rolling Hills Manor, in Zion, Val was born December 16, 1932, in Waukegan, IL. He served with the United States Army in the Korean War. Val was proud of his service to his country and deeply loved all his family. Survivors include children, James "Jimmy" (Janet) Runnerstrom of Neenah, WI, Judith "Judy": Wasson of Rhinelander, WI, and Maxine Riley, Howard Leedle, and Sandra McKinney, all of Minnesota. Also surviving are many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sister, Margarita Torrez of Chicago, IL; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn; son, David Runnerstrom; brothers, Joe, Diego, Manuel, Johnny, and Benny Rodriguez; and parents, Joseph Rodriguez Sr. and Victoria Rodriguez. Special thanks and appreciation go to a special niece, Marie Gnorski, and special friend, Phil Farruggio, who were faithfully by Val's side. Funeral Services are private for the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested to the Waukegan VFW or the Wounded Warrior Project.
